At my sis-in-law’s bridal shower she received a painted glass vase. It’s one of those presents, when opened, where everyone says pass it around – so I could inspect it closer. So cute and personalized, but I don’t think it would be too hard. I stole it to take a picture to show all of you:
I asked about it, and the method seemed easy enough. Her aunt said she just put the wedding invitation (see it sitting under the vase) inside the vase and traced around it as a guide. She just used regular craft paint (and toothpicks for small areas), so obviously it’s for decoration and not meant for a run through the dishwasher or anything. Cute right? Perfect keepsake! Now I’ve got to run and get a cute glass dish/vase and try this out!
Oh, and isn’t the wedding invite cute too – my sis-in-law designed it herself. I thought she did a great job.

Looks great, and I always wonder if there is a way to make it more permanent. My kid shave done little tealight votives for me, and finger painted little caterpillars and stuff, but I’m always scared of cleaning them, so the paint wont come off, 🙁 ANy suggestions??? Also Mandy, since you love linky parties, I have started hosting a new one, if you are interested, gosh I would love the support 🙂

I use Folk Art enamels, Delta Air Dry PermEnamel*, and Pebeo Vitrea paints on glass. After allowing the paints to dry, place pieces on cookie sheet in oven, heat to 350, bake 30 minutes, turn off oven, allow piece to remain in oven until completely cool. At this point, it’s top rack dishwasher safe, but I recommend hand washing to be on the safe side. *
The PermEnamel is intended to air dry and cure, but I bake it too. It doesn’t do as well as the others though.
This is a very cute gift idea. I’m stopping in from the Tools are for Women hop and I’m following you. Would love for you to follow me too.
