Master Bathroom Makeover – MirrorMate

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that we’ve been giving our Master Bathroom a Mini-Makeover.  It’s the last room in our house to get redone because we had grand plans – reconfiguring and new stack of cabinets, etc.  But, it’s time it gets done, so instead of a big renovation and remodel, we’re just aiming for an update via a bathroom makeover.

I was sent a MirrorMate Frame to review but all opinions are my own.
Today I’m just talking about one aspect of the room and then I’ll do a whole reveal in another post.  But today’s aspect is the star of the show – our MirrorMate Frame – it really transformed the whole room!!  If you are looking for a simple way to drastically update a room, this is it.

So, in the middle of this remodel is when I realized I needed a wider camera lens – I could not get a good shot of the room, at all, because it was too small.  So my “after” pictures show a lot, but I don’t have a lot of great “before” pictures – sorry about that.  But, “before” it was just a basic boring mirror.  Doing nothing for the space:

And after – wowza!  It adds so much character and depth – I didn’t think it would affect the feel of the room that much, but it did.  Such an easy update for a dramatic change – I wish we would have done this years ago! (Mirrors are so hard to take pictures of!  And they show everything – including a project sneak peek…)

Let’s check out the details…

We chose the Lexington in Metallic Ash, and it is PERFECT.  I love the detail in it:

MirrorMate has TONS of frames to choose from – choosing is probably the hardest part 🙂   You can browse forever because all the options are so great.

It was pretty easy to install – came with detailed instructions and if you’re a visual person, they have videos on their site showing the process as well.  First you measure your mirror according to their form and that way they can send you a frame that will be custom-fit to your mirror.  It will come in 4 pieces.  You blacken the connecting corners then use wood glue:

And then push in these corner things to hold it together – I’m sure they have a name, but I don’t know what it is… in the picture below, one is shown pushed in, and one isn’t:

Then we did a trial run, just to make sure of the fit – which was right:

After that you just removed the backing from the sticky strips, then push the frame into place.  There are corner guides you can use to make sure your placement is right on.  It just adheres to the front of your existing mirror.  It can’t get much easier than that!  If your mirror has bracket things that stick out, they will send you new brackets that will be flat.

We give MirrorMate a thumbs up!  Be sure to check them out – I can’t stress enough, it was an easy way to bring a dramatic updated change to our bathroom.  On their site you’ll be amazing at the before and after pictures of different mirrors – a chunky frame can do wonders!
