Did you see me over at Sew Dang Cute? – if not, here’s what you missed – –
I’m trying to step up my style in life. I have found the easiest way to do that is with jewelry. On top of that, I LOVE fabric and incorporate it into many accessories. So today I want to show you the Knotted Necklace.
I found 3 of these strands of beads from Hawaii at a garage sale for $1 (total!) so I cut one up to use the beads in this project:
You can use whatever beads you can find – – you can catch a glimpse of a similiar necklace I made back in October using marbles:
Anyways, moving on – – Cut a strip of fabric wide enough to wrap around your bead.
I, of course, didn’t judge accurately, and my strip only wrapped around half the bead. So I ended up sewing 2 strips together (right sides together) on each side. If you measure right, you can just fold your strip in half and sew down one side instead of two.
Then turn your tube right-side out. If you haven’t heard of THIS MIRACLE TOOL, you’ll have to turn it by hand…
Then the fun part – assembly! Tie a knot close to one end. Then drop a bead down your tube. Then tie another knot – – here’s where you’re at:
Just keep on going til your tube fills up. Then take your two ends and sew them to some ribbon. I couldn’t find any ribbon that matched in my stash, so I just made another fabric strip – see the seam:
So since we don’t want to see the seam, tie a knot right on top of it to hide it:
Instead of finishing the ends, I kept the “knot” theme going and just tied a knot in the ends.
Tie it around your neck and enjoy your new fabulous look!!
