Must. Keep. Warm. Do you use warmies at your house? We have big giant ones, and small hand warmer ones, but today I filled in the gap. I made some handmade Jumbo Hand Warmers – my whole family just loves them. They’re perfect!
They are a simple sewing project and then you just pop them in the microwave to warm them up – and you can reuse them over and over again. Flannel comes in so many cute options, this is a great way to show that off as well.
You’ll need:
–flannel fabric (about 1/4 a yard will make a couple of hand warmers)
–rice
—Jumbo Hand Warmer template (you can find it here to download) – or make your own template
–basic sewing supplies
First use your pattern to cut out 2 pieces – – there’s a front and back to each handwarmer.
You will then, with right sides together, sew all the way around the edge except for a section about 2-3 inches wide. Then clip the corners as shown so it will turn right-side out easily.
Then turn right-side out through that opening in the sewing:
Fill with rice and then topstitch, or sew along the top, all the way around the edge. This will seal up the hole from turning. Be sure not to overfill with rice – it’ll make this last sewing step a little tricky!
That’s it! Enjoy the jumbo handwarmers!
