Hello Sugar Bee Readers! I’m Ariean from OneKriegerChick and I am so excited to be here sharing a fun, easy and festive Home Decor idea with you all!
- Switch Plate
- Mod podge & sponge brush
- Festive paper
- Embellishments (pen, ribbon and ornaments)
And here’s how it came together…
I started with trimming piece of scrapbook paper to a size about 1/2 to 3/4 inch larger (on all sides) than the switch plate. Then, I adhered the paper to the switch plate using a thin coating of mod podge. Then I adhered my corners as shown in the photos followed by the length of each side. I added an extra coating of mod podge to seal the paper into place. Allow to dry. When dry, use an exacto blade to cut out the openings. If desired, you can apply a coating of mod podge to the paper on the front side. I did not do this because I wanted the look of the paper and my decorative switch plate is not located in an area where it will be touched. For the lettering, I cut a piece of solid scrapbook paper to fit just inside three of the openings. I penciled in the letters j-o-y, then connected them and went over them with a gold marker. I attached it to the inside of the switch plate using sticky square foam tabs.
When the holidays are over, this would be super cute with black and white photos of my boys too. To finish it off, I added some bits of red ball fringe, small ornaments and antique ric rac.
Fun, easy and festive, right! If you liked this project, I would love to have you come check out some of my other OneKriegerChick projects…
