We’re dreaming of a White Christmas – how about you? White Christmas dreams inspired our project today, Craft Stick Snowflakes! Dreams are such a fun theme in Disney’s The BFG. Want even more dreamy crafts?? Check out the Dream! Make! Create! site, which includes other dream inspired crafts, such as a holiday village luminary resembling Sophie’s hometown of London, a Dream Journal, a What Kind of Dreamer is Your Kid? Quiz, and videos featuring Tiny Tin Doll Beds and Giant and Mini Snowflakes.
I love when books become movies – we make sure everyone has read the book (because that comes first!) and then head to the movies. Have you seen Disney’s The BFG yet? It’s been released on DVD, so you won’t want to miss it. Disney’s The BFG on Blu-ray, Digital HD & Disney Movies Anywhere is now available.
In the film, Sophie and the giant vary greatly in size, so of course we made mini and giant sized wooden snowflakes. This was such a fun project to work on with my kiddos. I could do my thing and they could do theirs.
Craft Stick Snowflakes
You’ll need:
-Craft Sticks (size depending on which size snowflake you’d like to make)
-Multi-purpose glue (I used Elmer’s Glue-All)
First you can decide what kind of snowflake pattern you’d like to create. There are endless possibilities. I arranged mine before I did any gluing to make sure I liked how it was coming along. Once you have them where you want them, simply use glue at all the points where the sticks overlap.
Some places will overlap multiple times, like the center of the snowflake. Just make sure each stick gets glued and attached in the stack.
Keep building and gluing your snowflake.
The glue joints will still be wet when you are done attaching all the parts. Let it sit and dry completely, until the glue is clear.
Once dry, slowly pick it up from the drying surface. That’s it!
You can use them in holiday decor or as gift toppers or as a front door medallion!
