I attended a two-day local blog conference this weekend, Go Blog Social. I love that there is a blog conference right here in the Kansas City Area! It’s great to mix and mingle with other bloggers in the area and I really enjoyed going. The exciting part was that I also got to present the topic of Building Your Blog Community – I just love talking blogging and sharing my blogging insights with others – it was a fun time!
My goal is to put my presentation into a quick ebook format to share with all of you – – but in the meantime here are a few of the quote slides that I put together – – there is just something about cute quotes that is so appealing to me, so I hope you enjoy them too:
Always remember that YOU have something unique and WONDERFUL, and so does your blog – and you’re putting it out into this awesome world for all of us to benefit from:
Be Authentic – sometimes it’s so much harder than it sounds! But be real – make real connections – you’ll find real friends out here in the blog world. BBFFs (you know, Blogging BFFs), here you come!
This is the hardest one – cause I really love my comfort zone! To grow, you’ve got to push yourself a little – get out of that comfort zone – put yourself out there – try something new. It’s worth it!
I feel like my presentation was a whirlwind and I hope I didn’t say too many things that were crazy or inappropriate – I do remember rambling about fashion and jumpsuits (cause I bought one to wear for the day and then I just couldn’t commit to the look!) and How to Win Friends and Influence People, and hopefully lots of blogging tips in between. And I showed a quick video of kitchen-building, so that’s always entertaining 😉 (you can see it over on the Sugar Bee Crafts FB page if you want to view that fun)

Well, now I really wish I’d been there because I LOVE your tips (and you’re definitely right— the cuteness makes the words that much more memorable!). I have been trying to grow my blog community and got feedback from some local friends that they just don’t blog anymore now that Instagram and twitter are around. I LOVE blogging because it seems like so much deeper a view into someone’s soul than just a quick *often staged* snapshot. At least, it makes me sad to think that the world of truly expressing our thoughts and experiences might be going out of vogue because that is when I feel I am my TRUEST self. What do you think? In your superior experience (superior to mine, anyway!), is blogging becoming less popular than it used to be?

Great question – – I do think the connecting and interaction I once felt with blogging is shifting towards social media flatforms – but I think the sharing and diving deep still lives strong on blogs – I feel like this is a great discussion topic!! if you’re in the KC area, we’ll have to get together and chat blogging sometime 🙂

I would LOVE that! Same goes for you if you ever find yourself coming to Columbus, OH. 🙂
