Silhouette Promo – Sketch Pens and GIVEAWAY

Let me tell you a quick how-to…

For the quote, I played around with various “sketch” settings on the different lines of text.  I think you need the Designer Software to use the feature that turns regular things into “sketchy”.   I love that the Silhouette uses fonts that are already on your computer – so easy that way.  Then when you go to “cut” it – which really means “cut with a pen” which means “sketch” since it’s a pen and not a blade – you’ll want to use your cutting menu to turn on only the line you want sketched and turn everything else off.  This is how I sketched in multiple colors.
So you sketch the selected text, then  – WITHOUT UNLOADING THE PAPER – turn that line of text to “no cut” and turn on your next color to “cut” and repeat for how many colors you have.  
Look how awesome sketching is – – you can see it drawn in, almost etched, and the ink is so vibrant:
I then switched to my blade and cut out a border design, then carefully peeled everything off my mat:
I love how the sketch pens give you the opportunity to create printables, etc that are 12inches wide – – you can’t run 12×12 scrapbook paper through your home printer, but you CAN load it into your silhouette.  I cut the design so it would show fun paper through the openings – I ended up with the orange, but almost went gray polka dot.

The other project I did was an Ancestry Chart.  I got the file from Homemade by Jill – so be sure to check out her post if you’re interested in that.  I just loaded in the file and selected “Sketch Pen” from the cutting settings and let the machine do it’s work!

So cool to watch it draw:

I also inserted the family name into the middle of the chart – again, I think my FAVORITE feature of the Silhouette is that it used fonts from your computer.

My mom’s birthday gift – – turns out I was using a non-updated list of ancestors, so I have more chart-filling-in ahead of me…

To sketch on the box, just ran the flat box through my machine like a piece of paper, lining it into the right spot – that’s it!

    You make it look so easy!! Am wanting one but have had 3 kids in college with one of them in grad school! $$$$ going elsewhere than scrapbooking! Wonderful that I have a huge stash I can work on! 😉
