Yes, you read that right, a No-Sew Mason Jar Sewing Kit, ironic 😉 But oh so cute!! This project comes together really quickly and I just love it! It’s a fun way to have a cute, on-the-go sewing kit with you. I think it would also be a great gift idea! So if you’re not a sewer, but love to craft, you could craft these up for your sewer friends.
I’ve got a fun tutorial for you, with the step-by-step instructions, let’s dive right in!
Want to see how quickly it comes together?!
No-Sew Mason Jar Sewing Kit
You’ll need:
–fabric – I love these Waverly Inspirations prints found at Walmart
–paint – did you know that Waverly Inspirations also carries paint – and it matches the fabric line – love that!
–mason jars – I grabbed mine at Walmart as well. Whichever size mason jar you’d like to use, bigger jars will hold more items.
–magnetic strip, stuffing/batting
–hot glue, scissors, pencil, etc
First you’re going to draw 2 circles on the backside of the fabric. One circle the size of the mason jar lid. The other circle about 1.5 inches larger all the way around. Cut the circles out.
Hot glue the top the lid and place a wad of stuffing on it – it won’t all glue down, but it will help hold it in place a little.
Then with the stuffing-side down, place onto the back side of the large circle. Fold over an edge of the circle and hot glue into place. Repeat for opposite edge. Repeat fo 3rd edge. At this point, one side is left open – add any additional stuffing inside that you think it needs.
Then glue down all the edges, working your way around the lid. Cut off any excess fabric. Finally, glue the smaller fabric circle over the back of the lid to help give it a finished look.
Next I attached a strip of magnet to the underside of the lid, to hold pins, etc. Then apply hot glue to the inside of the lid’s rim, and push the cushion lid up into the rim to secure it into place.
Voila! Pin cushion lid complete!
It can hold pins on the underside:
And you can fill it with all sorts of sewing tools – mini scissors, thread, safety pins, etc:
And it just looks so cute!
Enjoy making a No-Sew Mason Jar Sewing Kit!
Will you keep it for yourself? Gift it to a friend? Both??
