Packing Tips:
–lots of snacks – that will help you to keep meals flexible
–a few favorite toys
–sunblock
–all diaper bag essentials
–stroller – we borrowed a sit-and-stand, and it was seriously the best thing for an amusement park
Park Tips:
–fast pass – use this! You can jump to the front of a ride of your choice. Plan accordingly. We love Fast Pass.
–rider switch – another amazing program. As one parent waits with smaller kiddos, and the other parent takes the older kiddos on a ride, if the other parent wants to then ride the attraction, they can just switch right there, instead of the second parent having to wait in line again. It’s so great!
–baby centers – when your little one needs a break, a nap or even a snack, take advantage of the baby centers, set aside just for you!
Emotional Tips:
So you might think that packing and park tips are the ways to make your visit successful, but I would argue that it’s Mental Preparation. If you’ve prepared yourself emotionally for a trip with preschoolers, things will go so much better!
–Be flexible – know that your schedule won’t be followed exactly. Preschoolers get distracted. Keep in mind that even if they’re not doing the activity you had wanted, they’re self-guiding and doing things that they are drawn to – which is probably what they will remember the most.
–Allow plenty of time – the park is a whole vacation, with so many things to offer. I love that there is so much to discover. Trying to rush through it will just be stressful.
–Take plenty of pictures – this way you can look back and remember all the fun.
–Get down on their level – bend down, try to see the park as the kiddos do – lots will catch your eye. It’s so great to try and see a little of what they experience through what they see.
Don’t wait to see Walt Disney World® Resort just because your kiddos are young – in fact, that’s all the more reason TO go! They will have different experiences as a preschool then as a tween, and you’ll want them to have all of those experiences.
